ChoiceOne Bank to host Community Shred Days

Sparta, Mich.-based ChoiceOne Bank is hosting four public Community Shred Days this year in the parking lots of bank branches.

The free events will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, or until the trucks are full on:

  • April 23 in Lapeer, Mich.
  • Sept. 17 in Sparta.
  • Sept. 24 in Imlay City and Fremont, Mich.

Those who arrive are advised to bring private information such as tax forms, statements and bills in bags and boxes. Paperwork will be deposited into a bin. Once the bin is full, it will be lifted, and the contents dumped into a mobile shredding truck. Those looking to shred their documents will need to remove compact disks, plastic bags, magazines and newspapers. Staples, paper clips and bindings will not need to be removed.

“We are pleased to offer this shredding service to our communities once again,” said Michael J. Burke, Jr., president of the $2.4 billion ChoiceOne Bank. “This is the 16th consecutive year the bank has hosted Free Community Shred Days. It’s important for your security, to have confidential documents shredded or destroyed to protect your identity.”
