ChoiceOne Bank promotes one to VP, hires 2 more executives

Sparta, Mich.-based ChoiceOne Bank recently promoted Vice President Trenton Hancock to head of retail banking.

The bank has also hired Bradley Bissett as VP and commercial loan officer, joining ChoiceOne’s Port Huron, Mich., team; and Sarah Ferris as VP and controller. 

Hancock joined the bank in 2016 as VP regional manager with 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to his time at ChoiceOne, Hancock was a VP at Chase Bank from 2014-16, when he took a position at the nearly $27 billion, Michigan-based Flagstar Bank. While there, he moved up the ranks from area manager to VP regional manager. Hancock is licensed in securities, life and health as a registered representative with John Hancock Insurance. Hancock, who graduated from Michigan State University, has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in business administration and an emphasis in economics. He expects to graduate from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this summer. 

Bissett was a chief credit officer at Brown City, Mich.-based Tri-County Bank. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking-University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 Ferris’ career at the $2.1 billion ChoiceOne began in retail and commercial credit from 2003-08. Ferris, who has more than six years of prior public accounting work under her belt, was most recently senior manager, SEC reporting, at Perrigo Company PLC in Allegan, Mich. Prior to that, she was a senior accountant at two local CPA firms for more than six years. Ferris has a Master of Science in accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. She was awarded her Certified Public Account certificate in January 2012.
