Minnesota community bank promotes 6 employees

New Ulm, Minn.-based Citizens Bank and Trust recently promoted six employees.

The bank announced in late January that Kathy Drexler had been promoted to vice president, operations; Kyle Potswald promoted to VP, lending at the Lakeville branch; Doug Walker was bumped up to VP, director of IT; Ryan Hoffmann had been promoted to assistant VP, lending; Laura Scholtz was promoted to assistant VP, lending at the La Salle branch; and Brian Walker had been promoted to assistant VP, manager of IT. 

Drexler started her career in 1982 at CFM, Inc., a data processing facility owned by Citizens and F&M Bank. Nine years later, she shifted to the bookkeeping department at Citizens and eventually became the data processing manager. She was promoted to assistant vice president of operations in 2013 and serves as the information security officer. A graduate of South Central College in Mankato, Drexler became an accredited ACH Professional in 2015. 

Potswald joined Citizens in 2018 as an assistant VP, lending officer. Potswald, who graduated from Augsburg University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance, has worked in different lending capacities over the past 11 years. Walker joined Citizens in 2013 as an IT manager. Last year, he was promoted to his current role of director of IT. He graduated cum laude from Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor of Science in IT. 

Hoffmann joined Citizens Bank in 2020 as an ag lending officer. A graduate of South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy, Hoffmann spent the past four years as an agronomist. Scholtz, who joined Citizens in 2019 as an ag lending officer, graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a minor in applied economics. 

Walker joined Citizens in 2017 as an IT systems administrator. He was promoted to manager of IT in 2021 and is a member of the bank’s Technology Committee. He has a decade of experience in the IT field, beginning as a help desk analyst for Emerson Network Power. In 2014, he was promoted to IT systems analyst.
