Union Grove, Wis.-based Community State Bank presented a $5,150 donation to local nonprofit Matthias Academy on Oct. 13.
The adult day program serves adults with mild to severe disabilities in southeast Wisconsin. Matthias Academy launched in 2020 and recently purchased 88 acres to expand the program, including creating a community center, shops and residential homes.
The money was raised from attendees of the bank’s third 100 Women Who Care-Western Racine County event Oct. 4 in Burlington, Wis. Each guest over the age of 30 was asked to bring $100 or more to enter while guests 30 years old or younger were asked to bring $50. Guests were encouraged to nominate a 501(c)(3) nonprofit servicing western Racine County. The group then voted to choose a recipient of the funds.
100 Women Who Care-Western Racine County provides women with the chance to support nonprofits that give back to their community. The group has raised $14,450 for local nonprofits since its 2022 launch. The next event is slated for early February.
“This event has really grown into a tradition that community leaders are excited to attend,” said Community State Bank Media and Communications Director Eloissa Heigl. “We had 55 women join us for our October event. We’re hopeful that our numbers will continue to grow and we invite other members of the community to join us.”
