Dorn is replacing Jim Espeland, who will continue to lead the bank by shifting his focus toward long-term strategy, business expansion, board governance and relationships. “To say that is a blessing is an understatement,” Dorn said. “Jim is such a great mentor to myself and so many. Espeland has literally shaped the lives of many people and communities.”

Dorn has served as chief managing officer since 2019 and manager of the Battle Lake branch of First National Bank of Henning since 2015. Dorn, who initially joined First National Bank in 2007 after leading Woodland Bank of Grand Rapids’ Hill City, Minn., branch, began his financial services career at Wells Fargo in 2004.

A graduate of the Minnesota State University-Moorhead, Dorn is a district board member of  the Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota.

“These new responsibilities harness the unique capabilities of Mr. Dorn for the benefit of his First National Bank colleagues, customers and the communities of Henning, Ottertail and

Battle Lake,” Espeland said. “As a leading community banker, the continuity of leadership that Mr. Dorn displays will strengthen the position of our financial institution as we continue to grow along with our communities and county.”
