This year, 29 $500 scholarships will be given to area high school seniors who plan to attend either a two- or four-year college or vocational school. Scholarships are being awarded based on academic standing, extracurricular activities, community involvement, financial need, and a short essay explaining why the student should be considered. Applications are due March 31 and open to applicants and their parents — customers and non-customers — who live in Iowa, Illinois or Wisconsin.

“In today’s world, scholarships and student loans will help our youth realize their education goals,” said Jan Schwers, assistant vice president of marketing for the $1.6 billion bank. “At Fidelity, we’re proud to support these efforts with our annual scholarship program, but also with year-long financial literacy efforts in and around the hometowns we serve.”
