First Bank of Berne donates nearly $18K to local nonprofits

Indiana-based First Bank of Berne recently announced donations to eight local nonprofits, including:

  • $5,000 to South Adams Trails, a nonprofit working to develop a community trail. 
  • $2,920 to Jay Community Center for fitness activities.  
  • $2,500 to Markle Fish and Game Park. The donation will be used for renovations to the park’s softball/baseball field. The donation will also enable adding table seating and shade for the recently added concert stage.
  • $2,500 to fund startup costs at religious instruction program Lifewise of Adams Central.  
  • $1,500 to Dunkirk Glass Days. The event is a one-day celebration of the city, its glass industry house, businesses and organizations. The funds will be used for children’s games, a cornhole tournament, car show, 5K, vendors and bands. 
  • $1,500 to Secret Families Christmas Charity of Jay County to allow volunteers to get together to shop, wrap and deliver items from donations. 
  • $1,000 to cover operating expenses at community economic development organization Jay County Development Corp.
  • $1,000 to Indiana Farm Bureau’s federal and state-level nonpartisan political action committee AgELECT program.
