Berne, Ind.-based First Bank of Berne recently announced a total of $5,000 in donations to two local nonprofits, including:
- $4,000 to Portland, Ind.-based Arts Place for the nonprofit’s Arts in the Parks event and special arts programming. Arts Place makes art experiences, education and services accessible for local residents, artists and cultural groups.
- $1,000 to Bluffton, Ind.-based adoption resources provider Loving Shepherd Ministries to acquire auction items for the group’s March 2 benefit. Loving Shepherd Ministries helps families save time and money in the adoption process.
Loving Shepherd creates Homes of Hope to foster long-term redemption stories for vulnerable children who are not adopted as well as for their communities. The nonprofit helps children who still have at least one parent but need business training and other assistance in Haiti and Ethiopia, and provides technical education and practical skills. Loving Shepherd also offers technical education and practical skills; and job opportunities in the broader communities. The group’s U.S. programs provide counseling and tools for American foster and adoptive parents.
