First Business Bank golf event raises $45K

A charity golf invitational hosted by Madison, Wis.-based First Business Bank on Sept. 25 raised $45,000 for nonprofits in the Madison and Milwaukee areas.

The event has raised more than $700,000 for nonprofits over the past 12 years. Local business leaders compete in two-person teams on behalf of a local charity of their choice. The $3.2 billion First Business Bank covers all event costs.

Tim Wallen and Terry Wallen won first place, securing $25,000 for Milwaukee-based St. Augustine Preparatory Academy. Solomon Zarling and Danny Behm came in second place, winning $7,500 on behalf of youth athlete-focused organization Pat Connaughton Foundation.

Two groups were tied for third, including Mike Welsh and Eric Haertle, who won $4,750 on behalf of Milwaukee-based educational consultant SHARP Literacy, Inc.; and Michael Steger and Paul Stewart, who raised $4,750 for Delafield-based Wisconsin Hero Outdoors, which aims to prevent veteran and first responder suicides through the camaraderie of outdoor activities. For finishing in fifth place, Nezih Hasanoglu and Matthew Specht won $3,000 on behalf of wildlife conservation organization Zoological Society of Milwaukee.

“It’s really motivating to witness the dedication and enthusiasm of our area business leaders as they go all-out to support their chosen nonprofits,” said Kevin Kane, president of First Business Bank’s southeast Wisconsin market. “The positive impact that comes from the collaboration between our local businesses and committed nonprofits is truly exceptional, and we’re thrilled to facilitate this partnership for the greater good.”
