Graduate School of Banking honors Charlie Funk for advocacy, leadership

The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado recognized former MidWestOne CEO Charlie Funk as the 31st recipient of the James C. Scarboro Award.

Funk was honored during GSBC’s annual graduation ceremony on July 27 in Boulder, Colo. The award, named after GSBC co-founder James C. Scarboro, is given “to a community banking advocate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a passion for banker education throughout his or career.”

Funk was a GSBC faculty member from 2001-16. He served as CEO of Iowa City, Iowa-based MidWestOne Bank from 2008-22 and is now a member of its board of directors. Funk is also a past instructor of the Iowa School of Banking and Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
