Indiana’s First Bank of Berne recently announced three donations to local organizations, including:
- $2,000 to local group Leadership Van Wert. The 17 members of this year’s class are volunteering to reconstruct the Jr. Fair horse arena fence at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. The project is expected to be completed by this year’s fair.
- $1,000 to The Portland Rockets for work on the stands, press box and concession areas. The improvements will make all areas handicap accessible and add other necessary amenities.
- $1,000 to Jay County 4H’s Back a 4Her program, a work-readiness event intended to help youth network and learn other professional skills. The donation is expected to be divided among youth who can invest the funds in their college savings accounts, purchase supplies for coming projects, or to pay for a camp or trip experience. “Employers, community leaders and individuals will meet tomorrow’s leaders and workforce to help our youth develop critical skills such as communication and relationship building,” the bank stated.
