Iowa bank sponsors community shred day

Northwest Bank in West Des Moines, Iowa, sponsored a community shred day on Oct. 14.

More than $1,600 in donations were collected for the Lions Club and more than 3 tons of documents were shredded. One hundred pairs of eyeglasses were donated to help combat vision impairment and blindness.

“We enjoy providing an opportunity for community members to securely shred documents they no longer need,” said Travis Simpson, regional president in West Des Moines. “People can bring in old tax returns, bank statements, canceled checks and more to have them shredded on the spot. We’ve utilized this event as a fundraiser to benefit the local Lions Club and bring awareness to the many ways they give back to the local community.”
