Isabella Bank Corp. names president, CEO

Jerome Schwind recently assumed the roles of president and CEO of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-based Isabella Bank Corp. and CEO of Isabella Bank.

Schwind, who was appointed to the positions last April, officially began in those roles on Jan. 5. She succeeded Jae Evans, who retired after serving in those positions for a decade. CFO Neil McDonnell replaced Schwind as bank president.

Schwind joined Isabella Bank 25 years ago after spending nearly a decade with other banks. Schwind, who has been bank president since late 2015, has chaired the Michigan Bankers Association.

McDonnell joined Isabella Bank in 2018 as CFO. He’s credited with implementing a five-year strategic plan and leading initiatives to improve financial metrics and performance. A recently-elected member of the Community Bankers of Michigan board of directors, McDonnell also leads the bank’s trust management and investment business.

“Jerome and Neil are highly experienced professionals and well-respected community bankers,” said Isabella Bank Corp. Board Chair Sarah Opperman. “They have strong technical skills, are highly strategic and understand communities, customers and employees.”

Evans, who has 47 years of banking experience, is expected to continue serving on the corporate and bank boards of directors.
