St. Louis-based Midwest BankCentre recently expanded to Kansas City and appointed local banking veteran Trey Cunningham as market president.
The $2.7 billion bank opened a business production office, its first in Missouri outside the St. Louis region. Midwest BankCentre has already secured several local business customers who were launched in St. Louis before expanding west.
A seasoned banker, Cunningham leads the bank’s Kansas City-based commercial and treasury team. Cunningham, who served as Kansas City market president for Wichita, Kan.-based Emprise Bank for the past four years, graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003.
Midwest BankCentre Chair and CEO Orvin Kimbrough cited Kansas City’s steady growth over the past two decades as a major reason for expanding. “That kind of investment has spurred regional growth in business and the local economy, making Kansas City the perfect choice,” Kimbrough added.
Commercial, Retail & Small Business Banking President Danny Pogue said the expansion stemmed from broad consumer and business banking changes. “Business owners and consumers alike expect their bank to be there for them when they need it, including online and through their mobile devices,” he added.
