MidWestOne Financial Group names Reeves CEO

Iowa City, Iowa-based MidWestOne Financial Group, Inc., named Charles Reeves as CEO, effective Nov. 1.

Charles Reeves

Reeves, 54, succeeds Charlie Funk, who is retiring following a 22-year career with the $6.4 billion bank. Funk, who announced earlier this year that he planned to retire at the end of 2022, has been away from work since he sustained serious injuries in a bicycle crash in August. Len Davaisher, MidWestOne’s president and COO, had been serving as interim CEO since the crash. Funk is expected to remain with MidWestOne through April as a special adviser and will continue to serve as a board director.

Board Chair Kevin Monson noted that Reeves, a 32-year banker, was selected after an extensive search. Reeves most recently served as president, CEO and director of Beach Bancorp, Inc., parent company of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.-based Beach Bank. He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.  “[Reeves] is equally skilled at building and developing leadership teams to foster long-term relationships, and help customers and communities succeed,” Monson said. “We look forward to leveraging his skills and experience to drive long-term growth at MidWestOne.”
