Hataway named Missouri Bankers Association president, CEO

The Missouri Bankers Association board of directors named Jackson Hataway as president, effective June 1.

Hataway, the association’s executive vice president, will be the seventh person to lead MBA in its more than 130-year history. He will work alongside current MBA President and CEO Max Cook, who will continue as CEO until he retires in the summer of 2023. Hataway will then also assume the CEO position.

Hataway joined MBA in November 2019 as senior vice president of communications, marketing and member services. He led the association’s outreach to banks about the Paycheck Protection Program and ensured that MBA member educational programs and services continued during the pandemic.

Hataway was promoted to executive vice president in June 2020. “Jackson’s vast knowledge of the banking industry and his vision for the future of our association made him the perfect choice for MBA,” said John Everett, chair of the MBA board of directors. “We are excited to have Jackson at the helm leading MBA.”

Before joining MBA, Hataway was a consultant and principal consultant with Strategic Arts and Sciences for 10 years. He graduated from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, with a bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree in communication and information sciences.

“MBA has an outstanding reputation among the Missouri banking community and its state counterparts, and that’s because of the incredible work of (Cook) and the MBA staff,” Hataway said. “I am extremely honored to carry on this legacy as the next president of the MBA.”
