New bank opens in suburban Detroit

Michigan-based de novo Community Bank opened on June 26, according to the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services.

The bank, headquartered in the northern Detroit suburb of Birmingham, is the second to open in the Oakland County region over the past four years following a decade of no regional de novo activity.

DIFS Director Anita Fox said the opening “will provide area residents with increased options to access financial services and tools to build stronger financial futures for themselves and their families.

“DIFS is pleased to oversee the continued growth of banking access in our state,” she added. “Locally based community banks promote economic growth and community development within the markets they serve.”
