Ohio-based F&M Bank opens branch in Detroit suburb

Archbold, Ohio-based F&M Bank recently opened its first full-service branch in Michigan.

The branch, in the Detroit suburb of Birmingham, is more than 2,500 square feet and increases the bank’s branch count to 35 in Michigan, Ohio and northeast Indiana. The $3.1 billion bank already has an LPO in the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield, Mich.

F&M Bank President & CEO Lars Eller called the expansion an important component of the bank’s strategic plan.

“We think Birmingham is an excellent market to open our first full-service office,” he said. “Our core values and relationship-based banking model will support the personal and business banking needs of Birmingham and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the community.”

The opening continues the bank’s recent growth. In 2023, F&M Bank rebranded from Farmers & Merchants State Bank, unveiled a new logo, and opened a new regional headquarters in Fort Wayne, Ind., along with a branch in Toledo, Ohio.
