One Community Bank donates $20,000 to youth mental health program

Oregon, Wis.-based One Community Bank donated $20,000 to support mental health services at UnityPoint Health-Meriter’s Child & Adolescent Psychiatry program.

According to a press release, the donation to the UnityPoint program is expected to provide additional resources to program caregivers, which could include tools promoting self-expression and self-calming behaviors such as music, art kits and safe kits and healing gardens; care unit enhancements to keep providers and young patients safe; facility artwork; and potential expansions to the facility.

The bank was the lead sponsor of the Meriter Foundation Pro/Am Golf Classic in both 2021 and 2022. Last year’s event was canceled due to excessive heat.

“One Community Bank colleagues are incredibly proud to support the ongoing efforts that Dr. Katherine Schmitt and her team at Meriter Child & Adolescent Psychiatry provide for the youth and their families in our community,” said One Community Bank President and CEO Steve Peotter. “OCB is committed to investing in our communities and [Schmitt’s] powerful mission aligns with One Community Bank’s values.”

Schmitt added that “One Community Bank responded, without hesitation, to the heightened mental health troubles children are facing. I’m incredibly proud to partner with our friends at OCB, who continue to show their commitment to sustaining this vital resource for kiddos in our community.”
