One Community Bank awards three $1,000 scholarships

Oregon, Wis.-based One Community Bank awarded three students $1,000 scholarships.

Scholarship recipients included:

  • Lydia Gold of Madison, Wis., a recent graduate of La Follette High School. She plans to use the scholarship funds toward her education at Rhodes College, Memphis, Tenn., where she will study educational policy.  
  • Mason Rake of Grand Marsh, Wis., who graduated from the home-school program Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin. He plans to use the scholarship funds toward his education at Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton, Wis., where he will study information systems security.  
  • Sam Derrick of Brooklyn, Wis., who graduated from Oregon High School and works at One Community Bank. She plans to use her scholarship funds toward her education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she will major in finance and minor in business. 

The program was launched in April 2021. The application process was open to high school seniors graduating in any of the communities that the bank serves. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior in good academic standing with plans to study at a two- or four-year school; technical or trade school; or an apprenticeship program. Applicants submitted essays on community service and involvement. There were 31 applicants this year.
