Plains Bancshares acquiring two branches

Plains, Kan.-based Plains Bancshares, Inc., is acquiring the Harper and Anthony, Kan., branches of BancCentral, NA. The offices, both in Harper County, have $132 million in combined deposits.

The deal is expected to close this fall. The Plains State Bank has $260 million in assets across six offices in western and central Kansas. Alva, Okla.-based BancCentral, NA, has $541.2 million in assets. Following the purchase, The Plains State Bank will have nearly $400 million in total assets.

The Plains State Bank has been growth-focused in recent years, exemplified by its 2018 acquisition of Salina, Kansas-based Bank VI and branch openings in Hutchinson and Great Bend, Kan.

Plains Bancshares chair Daniel Clawson called Harper and Anthony “natural partners and a great cultural fit.”
