Bruss named new Waterstone Financial president

Wauwatosa, Wis.-based Waterstone Financial, Inc., the holding company of WaterStone Bank SSB, has elected William Bruss as president. 

Douglas Gordon is expected to continue leading both the company and bank as CEO, a role he has been in since 2007. Bruss started as the bank’s in-house counsel in 1997 and has served as an executive vice president, chief operations officer and secretary of the company and bank since 2013 with management responsibility for WaterStone’s legal, operational and support areas. Bruss chairs the bank’s executive committee and is a member of the Officers’ loan committee along with Waterstone Mortgage Corp. board of directors.  

Also, Waterstone Financial announced that Julie Glynn and Ryan Gordon were elected executive vice presidents of the company and bank, joining CFO Mark Gerke in that role. Glynn joined the bank in 2018 with more than 30 years of leadership experience in retail banking. She also steers the bank’s retail banking initiatives as its chief retail officer and is a member of the executive and asset/liability committees. 

Gordon began his career with the bank in 2008 with a focus on credit administration. He was named the bank’s chief credit officer in 2018. He also serves as chair of the officers’ loan committee, and is a member of its executive committee and the board of directors of Waterstone Mortgage Corp.
