Walth elected director emeritus at Starion Bank

Curt Walth was elected director emeritus to the board of directors at Starion Bank, Bismarck, N.D.

Walth has been on the bank board for more than three decades and is the first director elected to the position.

The emeritus role is intended “to honor former members who have left a legacy of serving with distinction and excellence, and made significant contributions to the bank’s strategy, culture, and interests,” according to the bank. Emeritus members can remain engaged and provide counsel to the board, including on M&As and principal business managers.

Walth began his career at Starion Bank in 1989 after the bank purchased First Southwest Bank, Mandan, N.D., where Walth was a senior officer. Four years later, Starion opened its first office in Bismarck, N.D., where Walth was named the first market president. He served in numerous roles, most recently as executive vice president.

“Curt has been a mentor and partner to me throughout my Starion career, and especially during my time as CEO,” said Starion board Chair Craig Larson. “He and I made a great team; I was able to focus on vision and strategy while Curt would flawlessly implement the key bank initiatives that allowed us to grow and prosper. He’s been an amazing advocate for our culture and family values. Anyone would be lucky to have Curt Walth by their side.”
